Wolves v Man City betting tips: A winning start for Guardiola’s men?

Manchester City will be the final team to get their Premier League campaign underway, when they visit Wolves at Molineux tonight.

Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to regain the title after been comfortably beaten by Liverpool last season. Wolves meanwhile, are out to make the move into the top six, having finished seventh for the last two campaigns.

Kick-off is at 20:15 (UK Time) on Sky Sports, and so without further ado, here’s our Wolves v Man City betting tips

MATCH ODDS

Wolves are the 6/1 underdogs tonight, but that’s unlikely to bother Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, who did the double over City last season, including a memorable 3-2 win at Molineux in December.

Santo’s side were impressive to in last week’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United, and they’ll look to work with that momentum tonight.

Our traders make City 1/2 favourites to open their campaign with a win. But Guardiola will have seen both Manchester United and Burnley, two other sides starting their campaigns late, lose at the weekend.

There have been 12 goals in the last four meetings between these sides, with 17/20 about both teams to score, and 9/5 about over 3.5 goals.

This could be a busy one for both sets of defenders, with Willy Boly 10/3 to pile in and win four or more tackles. Kevin De Bruyne is 7/5 to provide an assist.

TALKING TACTICS

Santo could name the same XI which began last week’s win at Bramall Lane. That means Raul Jimenez leading the line up front, supported by Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto.

Jonny is Wolves’ only significant absentee, with Diogo Jota completing his move to Liverpool last week. Adama Traore scored twice against City at the Etihad last season, and will look to cause mischief out wide.

For City, Guardiola has a number of concerns, with both Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva injured, while Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez have missed most of pre-season.

Gabriel Jesus will deputise for Aguero up front, supported by Raheem Sterling and possibly new signing Ferran Torres.

De Bruyne will look to be the playmaker, pulling the strings in midfield, alongside Rodrigo. Nathan Ake is in line to make his City debut in defence and could be in for a busy night up with plenty of crunching tackles.

GOALSCORER ODDS

Jesus and Sterling share favouritism in the first goalscorer market at 7/2, with the duo each 13/10 to score anytime.

There’s 11/2 about Jimenez to score the opener, with hotshot Fabio Silva at 15/2. Traore netted in both games versus City last season, and is 13/2 to strike anytime.

And 13/8 says Sterling tests Patricio with two or more shots on target from the England international.
