Will Sunderland or Crystal Palace make late swoop for Everton defender?

Published:

It’s not been the busiest of Deadline Days on Merseyside, but there’s still time for at least one deal to go through. But calm down, Everton fans, the odds are suggesting it’ll be a player leaving rather than an incoming arrival.

And it’s news that Phil Jagielka could be set for a last minute move to either Sunderland or Crystal Palace.

It’s no surprise to see Davd Moyes’ side at the head of this market at 8/1. The former Everton boss has a habit of reuniting with former players – and Sunderland’s leaky defensive unit would welcome Jagielka’s arrival as we approach the business end of the campaign.

But our traders are also giving Crystal Palace an outside chance of landing the former England international, with 12/1 on offer for Sam Allardyce to add the 34-year-old to his ranks.

Jagielka has played 16 Premier League games for the Toffees so far this season, but Ronald Koeman has previously made it clear he wouldn’t stand in the way of his club captain should a bid come in.

And with Everton playing tomorrow night, the former Sheffield United man is accessible tonight should Palace and Sunderland wish to speak to the centre-half.
