Will Mourinho solve Man United’s right-back dilemma with Brazilian?

After a difficult first season in England for Matteo Darmian, Jose Mourinho could be set for a Deadline Day swoop to bring Monaco right-back Fabinho to Manchester United.

The Brazil international had been 7/1 to join the Red Devils earlier in the window, but with Mourinho apparently keen on a last-minute defensive acquisition, his odds of a move to the North West giants has shrunk to 7/4.

Having played 47 times for the principality club last season, netting an impressive eight goals in the process, the 22-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the most talented full-backs in world football, and a player whose game-reading shows a maturity far beyond his years.

Having already broken the world transfer record to bring Paul Pogba home earlier in the window, United’s Portuguese boss is certainly not averse to spending big for the right man.

And there’s no question the Red Devils would benefit from a top-class acquisition in a part of the pitch where they’re lacking strength in depth.

With Transfermarkt.co.uk valuing the player at £13.6m, he certainly wouldn’t be out of United’s price range. All that, combined with his big-game impact – symbolised by a winning goal away at PSG last season – means he’d be a fantastic buy.

Man United are next in action against local rivals Man City, with 6/5 for the Red Devils to record a second consecutive victory over the Citizens.

Will there be yet another marquee signing for the Old Trafford faithful to sing the name of ahead of a hotly-anticipated Manchester Derby?
