#WhatAreTheOdds: Money floods in for more Villa woe

Published:

There won’t be much arguing as to this season being one of if not the worst in Aston Villa’s history, but at least some people appear to be making the best of a bad situation.

Only a miraculous run of results of unheralded proportions can stop Villa playing Championship football next season, and things took another sour turn in Birmingham with the departure of Remi Garde this week.

But it appears the Villans’ plight has only served to inspire a number of our more opportunistic Twitter followers with floods of requests and money coming in courtesy of our #WhatAreTheOdds feature.

We’ve had one request on ‘Aston Villa to lose all of their remaining Premier League fixtures this season’ and for that we’re quoting 14/1 on the Villans being beaten in all of their last seven games.

Far more likely however is our other Villa-based special, ‘Aston Villa not to win another Premier League match this season’ at just 6/5.

With games against Southampton, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal still to come, Villa face four teams inside the top seven.

Their three other ties see them face Eddie Howe’s much-improved Bournemouth, a trip to Watford, and a penultimate day clash with a Newcastle side possibly still fighting for survival.

Meanwhile it’s 9/2 that Villa make an instant return by gaining promotion from the Championship next season, while it’s 8/1 they double-dip and go straight into League One at the end of 2016-17.

Other Premier League requests include what must be an optimistic Tottenham fan, who wanted to know the price on Spurs to win all of their remaining fixtures – 33/1.

And a few folk already have one eye on the summer transfer market, with a request for Jordan Henderson to quit Liverpool for Tottenham before next season – 7/4.
