West Ham United are in need of some attacking inspiration right now, having lost their last four games. But while the current Irons crop need to rediscover their form, Slaven Bilic could be set for a huge boost this summer in the form of Lazar Markovic.
The 23-year-old winger has looked decent during a pair of loan spells this term, at Sporting Lisbon and Hull City respectively.
But realistically, he’s unlikely to break into the team at parent club Liverpool – and it seems the Serbian could now be set for a permanent move.
West Ham United are the current favourites for his signature by some distance, with our odds-crunchers pricing the East London outfit up at 7/4 to be the winger’s next permanent club.
They’re followed in the betting by Portuguese giants Benfica (5/1). And with the Cacak native having spent a productive season at the Estadio da Luz back in 2013-14, a move back to his old stomping ground may prove tough to turn down.
Meanwhile, the Serb’s current club – Hull City – are 8/1 to turn his loan move into a permanent deal. And it’s the same odds for Markovic to join up with his former Partizan teammate Aleksandar Mitrovic, at Newcastle United.
They’re followed by a duo of West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City at 10/1, while Swansea City are 12s for his signature – a price that could tumble if the South Wales club can retain their Premier League status.
Right now though, West Ham need to return to winning ways – and fast.
They head to the Emirates tonight, with 6/1 to enjoy victory over Arsenal. Meanwhile, there’s 40/1 on offer for the Hammers to repeat last season’s 2-0 victory in North London.
