West Brom v Arsenal: Baggies to make Sanchez and co work for the win

Arsenal end their 2017 with a trip to struggling West Bromwich Albion.

Arsene Wenger’s men need a win to keep pace with the top four, while three points for Alan Pardew’s hopes could be huge in deciding their 2018 destiny.

The Gunners have failed to win three of their last four visits to the Baggies, including last season’s woeful 3-0 defeat.

But since that result last March, West Brom have won only two of their last 29 games. They’re winless since August and now sit bottom of the table.

So the 9/2 on offer for a home win simply isn’t big enough to be worth considering. Indeed, the 4/6 on an Arsenal victory is decent.

For all their critics, only the two Manchester sides have managed to beat the North Londoners in their last 12 league fixtures.

They’ve lost only one of their last six away games, and produced moments of class in their 3-2 win over Crystal Palace.

Arsenal have scored six times in their last two games, while West Brom have let in two or more in five of their last seven at home.

Backing the Gunners on the -1 handicap looks appealing at 17/10.

Alexis Sanchez could be in for another solid afternoon’s too.

The Chilean bagged twice on Thursday night, and is 7/2 joint-favourite to open the scoring.

And while the Baggies have been caught out at the back too often this term, they’re proving somewhat futile up front.

With just 14 goals, only Swansea City have netted fewer. Arsenal to win to nil is 19/10.
