West Brom favourites to land Southampton outcast Jay Rodriguez today

Published:

Tony Pulis has already splashed out £10m on Jake Livermore from Hull, and the West Brom boss could be set for some Deadline Day action, with Jay Rodriguez tipped for a move to the Baggies.

The Black County outfit sold Saido Berahino this month to Stoke City for around £11.8m, and though he wasn’t a regular under Pulis, it leaves Albion a little short up top.

Salomon Rondon is the club’s only recognised out-and-out striker at the Hawthorns.

Rodriguez fired in 15 goals in the 2013-14 campaign, as Southampton consolited their place in the Premier League.

Injuries have blighted his career since then, but now fit, it’s only Claude Puel who is denying him first-team football.

The former Burnley forward has played the full 90 minutes just twice this season, with half of his 14 appearances lasting under half an hour.

We make West Brom 4/1 favourites to sign Rodriguez today, ahead of Leicester and former club Burnley at 8s.

The Baggies are going well in the league, and sit a comfortable eighth ahead of the midweek action.

It’s clear Pulis and the club and sensible spending money, in a bid to consolidate themselves in the top-half of the table.

West Brom are away at Middlesbrough tonight, and we make them 2/1 to return from the north east with three points.
