Watford man heading to West Brom for Deadline Day medical

There’s a Watford player on his way to the Hawthorns as we speak – but it’s not the one you’re thinking of. While negotiations are ongoing between the Baggies and the Hornets for striker Odion Ighalo, his teammate Allan Nyom is set to complete a £3m move to the Black Country.

The Cameroon international has only been with at Vicarage Road for one year after joining from Spanish outfit Granada last summer, but his performances last season in Watford’s return to the Premier League after nine years away have apparently caught the eye of Albion boss Tony Pulis.

Representing Watford on 32 occasions in the league last year, the defender was a consistently strong performer and will fill the right-back slot currently vacated by centre-half Craig Dawson.

The 28-year-old will be the first arrival of the day at the West Midlands club, who have also been linked with moves for Ighalo and Euro 2016 winner William Carvalho, while they try to shift Saido Berahino in order to balance the books.

With less than 12 hours to go before the transfer window slams shut, Pulis faces a race against time to bring in the ‘three to four players’ he recently said he still needed.

Up next for West Brom after the international break is a trip to Bournemouth, where Pulis’ men are 3/1 to win – but the Baggies could be lining up with a completely different side to the one that started their last game at home to Middlesbrough.
