There’s plenty at stake at both ends as Burnley host Tottenham

With so much attention on the Merseyside derby and Arsenal versus Manchester City this weekend, Tottenham’s clash with Burnley is set to go under the radar. But it hasn’t escaped our attention, and there is plenty to play for at Turf Moor.
As we highlighted some weeks back, Sean Dyche’s Burnley faced a tricky spell of four away games in succession.
And as expected, the Clarets struggled, picking up just two points from a possible 12.
It means they’re now only eight points above the drop zone, which is nowhere near enough to feel comfortable about with nine games still to play.
But now the Lancashire outfit have to home games to enjoy, starting with the visit of Tottenham.
And if you can point to a weakness in Spurs this season, it’s their travelling form.
With just four away wins, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have won a full six games fewer than Chelsea and Manchester City on the road.
Sitting 10 points behind the Blues in second place, Spurs have given away 15 points to their rivals in away games this season.
But nevertheless, a top-four finish and a return to Champions League football is on the cards.
And with Liverpool facing Everton, and Arsenal hosting Man City, there is a great opportunity for Spurs to consolidate their place in the leading quartet.
Fail to win this weekend though, and see Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United pick up three points, and everything just gets that little bit more tense.
And with an Emirates FA Cup Semi-Final with Chelsea to contend with on the horizon, that’s something Spurs could do without. Plus, they’re without Harry Kane for the next month if not more.
So while on paper this game is set to be overlooked, rest assured there is plenty on the line at Turf Moor.
