The ‘Welsh Cruyff’ looks set to seal a Deadline Day move to West Brom

It’s been almost two months since Hal Robson-Kanu shocked the world with one of the goals of Euro 2016. And instead of rushing to the first club that came calling, the Welsh striker has left it until the last minute before deciding on a team to join after seeing out his contract at Reading.

And that club is West Bromwich Albion, who now look set to secure their second signing of the day so far. While Hull were 13/8 favourites this morning to sign the striker, odds on him making a move to West Brom were as high as 12/1 – so well done to those who backed it!

Not known for his goalscoring record, Robson-Kanu has only netted 32 times in 233 appearances – a relatively poor return for a striker – but he’s well known in the game for his work rate and hold up play – something Tony Pulis loves in a striker.

However, the Black Country club have so far been linked with the likes of Odion Ighalo and Euro 2016 winner William Carvalho in the last 24 hours, but have only signed Watford defender Allan Nyom and now Robson-Kanu.

Though Pulis is clearly strengthening the depth of his squad, neither of this pair will be considered marquee signings by Baggies fans, and with just hours to go until the window slams shut, the pressure is really on the Welsh manager to add a big name to his squad.

We’ll be keeping an eye on developments at the Hawthorns right up until the deadline, so make sure you stay with us!
