If Manchester City play ball with the £30m asking price for star striker Wilfried Bony as is widely expected, then Swansea already have designs on spending half the loot.

Losing Bony clearly leaves a huge void up front at the Liberty Stadium and Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic could go some way to filling it.

Serbian international Mitrovic is still only 20, but he’s been pulling up trees in the Belgian Pro-League for the last season and a half.

Plucked from Partizan as a precocious goal-scoring teenager, Mitrovic has racked up a hugely-impressive tally of 28 goals from only 55 appearances for Belgium’s most famous football exports.

He’s bagged 12 this season, including strikes against Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League ensuring he’s arrived on Swansea’s radar as well as other clubs.

The opportunity to play first-team football regularly in the Premier League may well be a very appealing option for Mitrovic, it just depends on Anderlecht’s willingness to sell for the proposed price.

Garry Monk does have summer signing Bafetimbi Gomis to step into Bony’s shoes for the time being, but clearly cannot afford to let the Ivorian go without attempting to replace him.

The Swans boss has also taken a chance on Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira, albeit on a temporary basis, after the Portuguese striker scored eight goals from 30 appearances on loan at Rennes last season.

Swansea, who sit very comfortably ninth in the Premier League at present – priced at 1/2 for a top-half finish – are also thought to be after Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker.

The England international was out for a long time through injury at White Hart Lane and it’s unclear where his future lies under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
