Swansea forced to wait in the game of transfer Deadline Day dominoes

Published:

Swansea City’s search for some extra quality up front has taken them all the way to Deadline Day, and Francesco Guidolin is hoping to land either Leonardo Ulloa or Enner Valencia by 11pm tonight.

The Welsh club have already signed Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston this summer, but with just two goals scored this season, it seems reinforcements are required.

Leicester’s Ulloa has been linked with a move away from Leicester all summer, but the link for West Ham’s Valencia has only gathered speed this week.

Swansea suffered due to the lack of a proven striker last season, with Andre Ayew and Gylfi Sigurdsson their top scorers.

Both Ulloa and Valencia would offer extra presence up front, and coupled with Llorente, could provide the Swans with a real handful pairing.

In the game of transfer dominoes, Swansea may have to wait for Leicester to sign Islam Slimani, while West Ham’s injury crisis may also delay any exit for Valencia.

The Hammers were also chasing Wilfried Bony, but with the Man City forward joining Stoke, that may also persuade boss Slaven Bilic to keep hold of Valencia.

Nevertheless the two clubs are in talks, and the bookies make it 2/5 that Swansea get the Ecuadorian before 11pm.

Ulloa’s potential move has gone off the boil in recent weeks however, with 10/1 now available on the Argentine heading to south Wales.

Swansea haven’t won since the opening day of the season, and will look for their second victory of the campaign after the international break.

Guidolin will be hoping to call upon at least one of Ulloa or Valencia when Chelsea come to the Liberty Stadium.

The bookies make the hosts 9/2 for three points, with Antonio Conte’s Blues 4/7 favourites.
