Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is convinced Darren Bent will end his goal scoring drought sooner rather than later.
Bruce’s side are 10/11 to beat Blackburn Rovers despite their 2-0 defeat against Blackpool in the week. Bent had several glorious chances in that game, but has now failed to find the net in five games.
The last time Bent scored was in the Black Cats’ 3-2 defeat against Wolves, but – with Bent scoring twice against Rovers last season – Bruce is confident he will find his goal scoring form again.
“Darren Bent has had a wonderful 18 months for us and there are going to be times when a goal-scorer goes through.
“He missed a few chances against Blackpool, but the good thing for me is that he kept getting in there and he kept getting the chances.
“Let’s hope he gets the same amount on Saturday because if he does, I know for a fact he will finish two or three of them.”
Following their recent change in fortune, Blackburn are now just two points behind Sunderland having played the same amount of games.
Rovers were clinical in their 3-1 victory over West Brom in the week, but Sunderland – who had 32 attempts on goal against Blackpool – should come out on top at 10/11. If they can find their scoring boots.
