Stoke City are reported to be interested in offering Tottenham Hotspur outcast Aaron Lennon a way out of White Hart Lane in January.

According to the Evening Standard, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to let the winger, amongst others, go in the transfer window to make room for signings of his own as he looks to turn their dire form around.

The former England international has found first team opportunities limited in north London this season, making just one start in the Premier League, and has featured for just 119 minutes.

At 27, Lennon should be in his prime and a move away to secure regular football should be top of his priority list.

Stoke were apparently interested in signing the ex Leeds man in the summer, but the deal never materialised, but now a transfer looks more likely.

And if Mark Hughes can convince Lennon to sign on the dotted line after Christmas, he could offer up a perfect complement to Victor Moses on the other side of the pitch for the Potters.

With Mame Biram Diouf through the middle, the pace of a Stoke counter attack could be second to none.

But he would also offer much needed reinforcements to Sparky’s men.

The aforementioned Moses and Diouf are likely to be off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, and with Peter Odemwingie still on the comeback trail, and Bojan yet to consistently deliver, options in the final third of the pitch could be stretched.

With a fee of around £6m mooted, Stoke chairman Peter Coates would have to top any transfer fee the club has paid in three years in order to secure the pacey forward’s signature.

Although they looked to have turned a corner of late, matches against Arsenal, Manchester United (twice), Chelsea and Liverpool coming up in their next nine games could put pressure on their league position in the coming months.

But first up after the international break, is a very winnable tie against Burnley, for which the Potters are 7/10 to record their first back-to-back league wins of the season.
