The Tottenham-to-Hull transfer tree looks as if it could be about to bear fruit once more as Steve Bruce sounds out a move for Aaron Lennon in January.

Just days after the 27-year-old touchline-hugger helped inspire a 2-1 Spurs win at the KC Stadium it appears the Tigers want to get their claws on Lennon, who has fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane.

That appearance off the bench was only his fourth Premier League outing under Mauricio Pochettino’s management and greater first-team opportunities at Hull could beckon.

It is not as if the Yorkshireman would be short of familiar faces to help him settle up on Humberside either.

Following very successful Tottenham-to-Hull transplants for Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore and Michael Dawson, some on-pitch chemistry could be rekindled.

Since joining Tottenham at 18, Lennon is actually the club’s longest-serving player, witnessing plenty of transitions and outlasting many managers in north London too.

He was a crucial component of the Lilywhites’ push into the Champions League quarter finals under Harry Redknapp during 2010/11, but sadly for him, his latest role of bench-dweller could be his last at the club.

In those days, Redknapp’s preference to deploy Lennon as an out-and-out winger in a 4-4-2, played to his strengths as a lightning quick compliment to Gareth Bale on the opposing flank.

However, Lennon appears less suited to Pochettino’s 4-2-3-1, where he has slipped down the pecking order behind the likes of Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli.

Tottenham’s next assignment arrives in the Europa League, where a win over bottom-side Partizan in Group C will see the Lilywhites through.

That victory can be backed at 1/4 with Ladbrokes, while placing the competition’s joint-top scorer Harry Kane in a wincast at evens could be a much more attractive option.
