Riding high in the Premier League and free from the likely burden of an FA Cup run, Southampton should have more than enough to see off a Swansea side still licking its wounds after conceding eight goals in their last two games.

The Saints are the 8/13 favourites for victory on the south coast, having won the previous three meetings between the teams, while it takes a brave man to back Swansea to steal a point at 11/4 and an even braver one to take the 9/2 on an away win for Garry Monk’s men.

With the odds heavily stacked in Southampton’s favour, however, we’ve picked out three top tips to help you maximise any returns from what, on paper at least, looks like being a routine home win.

Southampton (-2) to beat Swansea @ 17/4

After seeing the Swans put to the sword by Chelsea in a 5-0 defeat on their own patch a couple of weeks back, Southampton will be confident about inflicting another heavy defeat on the Welsh club, particularly after dispatching Everton in a 3-0 win at St Mary’s a few weeks back.

Monk’s men have won just one of their last nine at home in the Premier League and after losing 4-1 to a so-so Liverpool side back in December, this handicap Saints win looks handsomely priced.

Graziano Pelle to score first @ 7/2

The Italian may have endured a lean spell in the Premier League of late, but he returned to goalscoring ways last time out in the FA Cup, scoring the opener in the 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

With eight of his last 10 goals for Southampton coming at St Mary’s  and after opening the scoring on three separate occasions this term, he looks a good prospect to get the ball rolling here.

Southampton to win to nil @ 7/5

Fraser Forster must be relishing the chance of facing a Swansea side still reeling from the loss of Wilfried Bony to Manchester City.

The Swans have failed to score in any of their previous four outings against Southampton and with the Ivorian’s replacement, Bafetimbi Gomis, consistently linked with a move away from the club, another unhappy day could be on the cards.
