Much of Southampton’s success this season has been down to the instant impact summer signings Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle have made in the Premier League after their moves from Holland.

The two players have made huge contributions in their short careers on the south coast so far with the Saints currently sitting second in the Premier League six points behind leaders Chelsea.

But Southampton, who are 2/1 to qualify for next season’s Champions League, won’t have eyes on the title just yet, with their goal to break into the top flight’s top four.

Saints manager Ronald Koeman is looking to boost his squad in January as he looks to bolster his side’s European hopes and the Dutchman could take advantage of his excellent knowledge of the Dutch leagues once again and make a move for FC Twente star Jesus Corona.

As previously mentioned, Koeman has already raided Twente for Tadic, who cost £10.9m last summer, and the move has paid off with the 26-year-old contributing six assists and a goal in his 12 matches to date.

The Dutch boss also brought striker Pelle with him from Feyenoord and the Italian has repaid his manager’s faith with nine goals from 15 appearances in all competitions.

Corona, who has made two appearances for Mexico, has a buy-out clause in his contract at the Tukkers and could move to St. Mary’s for as little as £2.5m.

The Mexican has built a reputation in Holland as a rapid forward who has an eye for a pass in the final third and Koeman believes the former Monterrey star can cut it in the Premier League.

While any move for the unproven South American would represent a gamble on Southampton’s part it would be foolish for the club, and the supporters, to question Koeman’s judgement, especially when it concerns a player plying his trade in the Netherlands.
