Sir Alex Ferguson has been the most active Premier League manager in the transfer market but his dealings aren’t finished yet if respected sources close to the manager are to be believed.
Samir Nasri upset many an Arsenal fan when failing to rule out a potential move to Manchester United at the end of the season and he finds himself on Ferguson’s radar.
Nasri is unhappy at the direction Arsenal are going in and should Arsene Wenger lose Cesc Fabregas to Arsenal, the Arsenal manager would find it difficult to convince Nasri to stay.
However selling one of his prized assets to a major rival would see Wenger come under more pressure from the Arsenal fans who are yet to see the Frenchman back up his claims that he will enhance the Arsenal squad this summer.
Manchester United are preparing a £20m pound bid for 24-year-old Nasri, and Ferguson is very confident he can get his man after initial contact was made between the two clubs.
Ferguson is now set to test Arsenal’s resolve with a concrete bid and for a player who has just the one year remaining on his contract and is reluctant to sign a new deal while the future of Arsenal football club is up in the air.
Wenger is determined not to lose his player of the year last season and has insisted there is no way Nasri will be heading to Manchester United.
But Ferguson believes he can break his friend and counterpart and he wants to make a move before Manchester City enter the race after cooling their interest in Alexis Sanchez.
Nasri cost Arsenal £12m when they brought him from Marseille in the summer of 2008 and Wenger’s business brain will be in overdrive at the thought of losing him for nothing next season.
There is a chance Arsenal will offer Nasri to clubs outside of the Premier League for a cut price rather than sell him to their rivals, but at the moment Manchester United remain confident of doing a deal.
