In the last weekend before the international break nine of the 18 Premier League sides in action failed to find the net, with the four Saturday 3pm kick-offs seeing just three goals.

Although that weekend was seen as an uncharacteristic blip, it is worth backing under 16.5 goals in the six 3pm kick-offs this weekend at 4/5, with several sides struggling to find their form in front of goal.

The equivalent fixtures last season yielded just 16 goals and it is unlikely that the matches this term will even match that figure.

Stoke and Manchester City are not known for playing out high-scoring affairs, with 1-1 draws in their last four matches at the Britannia.

Spurs are yet to score from open play this season, and having failed to beat Norwich in their past four meetings they could be set for a tight match at White Hart Lane as they try and integrate several new signings.

There has only been one goal in each of Spurs’ three matches this season, including the north London derby, which had previously been one of the most reliably entertaining games in the Premier League.

West Brom, who have yet to score a goal of any description in the league, head to a Fulham side who have scored two in their three leagues matches, and even with Mesut Ozil in the ranks Arsenal are unlikely to run riot at Sunderland in a fixture that has seen just 10 goals in the past six seasons.

Aston Villa v Newcastle and Hull v Cardiff are harder to predict, with seven goals in the equivalent matches last season.

However Newcastle, Hull and Cardiff have all failed to score in two of their three Premier League matches this season, suggesting their strikers are yet to hit their straps.
