Under pressure after a difficult start to the season at Queens Park Rangers, it would appear that manager Harry Redknapp is returning to his tried and tested mid-season solution – signing loads of players in January.

And while the strategy didn’t work so well the last time QPR found themselves languishing at the wrong end of the Premier League standings – we’re looking at you Christopher Samba – the reformed wheeler-dealer will have high hopes for his two latest targets.

Tomas Kalas is far from what you would call a household name, but after impressing for Chelsea in a rare start against Liverpool that ended in a title-deciding 2-0 win for the Blues, the young Czech star was snapped up on a season-long loan by Bundesliga outfit FC Koln.

The only problem is that, unfortunately, Kalas is still struggling to hold down a first-team place with opportunities proving few and far between.

That situation has seen rumours emerge claiming the Chelsea could now recall the 21-year-old ahead of a January loan move to Loftus Road, with the Rs struggling defensively so far this term, amid reports that Rio Ferdinand may hang up his boots in January.

But if news of Kalas’s potential arrival has QPR fans feeling a little uneasy about the club’s survival prospects, the news that Aaron Lennon is also being linked with a move to the club should ease some of their concerns.

The former Leeds United man thrived under Harry Redknapp at Spurs and would undoubtedly relish the chance to link back up with the ex-Tottenham manager.

Once a prolific force in the Premier League, the winger is still only 27-years-old and could be available for around £7m.

QPR will face some competition for his services though, with fellow strugglers Hull also thought to be keen on completing a deal for the player.

But with a Loftus Road switch allowing Lennon to remain in the capital – where he is currently based – it could be advantage Rs in the race to land the speedy attacker.
