Premier League Betting Tips: Man United look to go clear at the top

Solskjaer - Man United

There’s no wiggle room in the Premier League this season, and we’ve got more midweek action on the way this week, starting with three games on Tuesday night.

Sheffield United seek their first league win of the campaign at to Newcastle, before Manchester United look to go clear at the top away at Burnley, while Everton are out to bounce back from losing to West Ham when they visit Wolves.

We’ve got the key info, stats and odds in our Premier League betting tips…

Sheffield Utd v Newcastle (18:00)

This is a huge game for both sides. Sheffield United are still winless in the Premier League, while a five-game winless run has caused Newcastle to start looking over their shoulder towards the drop zone.

After finally claiming their first win of the season in all competitions by beating Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup on Saturday, Chris Wilder’s Blades are 29/20 favourites for a vital three points.

There’s 2/1 about a draw, with Steve Bruce’s Magpies an 11/5 shot.

With just eight goals, the Blades are the lowest scorers in the league. David McGoldrick and Ollie McBurnie are 5/1 apiece to open the scoring.

For the Toon Army, Bruce will be hoping Callum Wilson is fit to play after leaving the striker out for the FA Cup tie at Arsenal on Saturday as a precaution. The former Bournemouth forward is 3/1 favourite to score first, with Dwight Gayle 4/1 and Andy Carroll at 5/1.

Burnley v Man United (20:15)

Unlikely as it seems, Man United could go three points clear at the top of the table if they can secure victory at Turf Moor.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have collected eight wins and two draws in their 10 games since losing 1-0 at home to Arsenal back in November.

The Red Devils have enjoyed their visits to Burnley in recent years too, and are 4/9 favourites for a fifth Turf Moor win in a row. What’s more, United have kept a clean sheet in each of those four previous wins, and 7/5 says they win to nil yet again.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets have started picking up points of late, losing just one of their last six league games. Burnley are 13/2 to win this one, but haven’t managed to score in any of their last five home games versus United. A draw is 17/5.

Scoring goals has been a problem for the hosts this season. With just nine tucked away, only Sheffield United have scored fewer. But should they find a way through, Chris Wood seems the most likely outlet, with the Kiwi frontman 6/1 to score first.

For United, Bruno Fernandes is 3/1 to open the scoring, with Edinson Cavani at 16/5 and both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford at 4/1.

Wolves v Everton (20:15)

Wolves have stumbled of late, winning just one of their last seven league games. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are 6/4 to turn the tide with a win at home to Everton.

After four wins on the spin, Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees slipped up with a 1-0 defeat to West Ham, and 2/1 says the Merseyside outfit maintain their top-four ambitions with win. A draw is 2/1.

This has been a high-scoring fixture in recent meetings, with each of the last four clashes producing three goals or more. We’re 7/5 about over 2.5 goals at Molineux, and 18/5 about over 3.5 strikes netted.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin out tonight with a hamstring injury, Cenk Tosun could be handed a race chance up front. The Turkish international is 4/1 favourite to score first, with 5/1 apiece about Fabio Silva and Pedro Neto scoring first for the hosts.
