Odds slashed on Tottenham finally landing Moussa Sissoko

Published:

Tottenham are favourites once again to sign Moussa Sissoko, with the bookies slashing the odds on a move from 8/1 to 1/3.

In one of the biggest on-going deals of Deadline Day, the White Hart Lane outfit began this morning as favourites to snap up the Newcastle midfielder, with the odds tumbling all the way into 1/8.

But reports that Spurs balked at the Toon Army’s £30m asking price, plus interest from Everton, saw the odds drift way out to 8/1.

More developments have emerged as the evening goes on however, with Sissoko’s national coach Didier Deschamps stating the Euro 2016 star is in London, and not Merseyside.

So Tottenham must now see off only Chelsea for the 27-year-old’s signature, and the Blues have been preoccupied with other deals.

Having spent £40m on David Luiz and another £23m on Marco Alonso, it seems unlikely Chelsea will splash out another £30m on Sissoko.

A deal would certainly put a smile on the face of Spurs’ fans, who have had to be patient this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino has welcomed just three men to White Hart Lane this summer – and one of those was this afternoon – while rival clubs have spent big on numerous players.

But Sissoko’s arrival would certainly add some weighty claims to Spurs’ title ambitions this season, can they get a deal done before 11pm though?
