Norwich refuse to give up on Hooper despite Becchio passing medical

Norwich have had little success in their chase of Celtic hitman Gary Hooper thus far, but it is hoped that a fourth offer of £7.5m will be enough to finally land their man.

Hooper averages two goals in every three Celtic games this season and has followed up well on his 29 goals in all competitions last season.

Losing this number of goals will be a big blow to Celtic and it is believed that they want £10m+ for the 25-year-old.

However, he is keen to test himself in the Premier League and with nobody in the Norwich ranks contributing more than four Premier League goals so far this season, a new striker would be more than welcome.

Alongside agreeing on a valuation, the other problem for Norwich is that Tottenham are said to be monitoring the situation and could swoop for Hooper if their chase of Leandro Damiao falls through.

Not only would Tottenham provide Hooper with a greater opportunity of winning trophies, he would have a personal point to prove as Spurs released him back when he was a teenager.

Even if Norwich sign Hooper, Leeds’ Luciano Becchio arriving appears a done deal after passing a medical.

Becchio has had his issues in sorting out a new contract at Elland Road in recent weeks and there is the possibility that his move to Norwich could see Steve Morison move in the opposite direction.

Neither of these strikers have Premier League experience and this could still make 11/2 a backable price that Norwich are relegated this season, having taken just two points from their last seven Premier League fixtures.
