Newcastle v Liverpool: Toon’s new found form spells danger for Reds

Published:

Both Newcastle and Liverpool head into this weekend’s early kick-off full of confidence after midweek successes in the Capital One Cup.

Despite some recent poor form Liverpool’s results in the league have not been too bad and Brendan Rodgers’ side, who are evens for victory, are unbeaten in their last four in the league.

But it’s Newcastle’s recent resurgence that has caught the eye and at 11/4 the Magpies look excellent value to continue their recent run.

However, Oliver Yew has dug even further in the search for some winners so here are his three best bets…

Newcastle or Draw @ 4/5

Liverpool’s form on the road has been extremely patchy so far this season with just wins against Tottenham and an extremely lucky 3-2 win at to show for their efforts.

And with Newcastle’s upturn in fortunes and their good recent record against the Reds at St James’ Park – they have lost just once in the last four matches against the Merseyside outfit on home soil – it could pay to back Newcastle or Draw in the double chance market.

Both teams to score @ 13/20

With the price so short this may not appeal to all punters but there is a reason we are picking this selection.

First of all we all know about the epic 4-3 encounters of the past between these two sides but more recently this fixture has meant goals – and plenty of them!

Both of last season’s encounters between the Reds and the Toon Army saw goals at both ends and with six of the last 10 meetings resulting in both teams scoring, we think we’ll see both defences breached Saturday lunchtime.

Mario Balotelli to score anytime @ 6/4

Is the Italian striker finally ready for lift-off at Anfield after his midweek goal sparked Liverpool to life in their 2-1 comeback win over Swansea?

Well we certainly think so at Ladbrokes News and we are backing the controversial forward to follow up with a strike against a Newcastle side that has managed just two clean sheets in nine league matches so far this campaign.
