Newcastle v Burnley: Barnes backed to get on scoresheet for visitors

Published:

Alan Pardew may have left but Newcastle still look a good prospect to see off Burnley at St James’ Park with the Magpies 3/4 to pick up a second consecutive win at home, following their 3-2 triumph over Everton last time out.

Burnley can’t be completely overlooked though with the Clarets a tempting 4/1 to win and build on the fine point they picked up with a 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad.

The draw, meanwhile, is priced at 11/4 but with the turn of the year encouraging fresh perspectives, why not try one of the following three top tips.

Newcastle to to win by 1 goal @ 13/5

The Magpies have made a habit of doing the bare minimum to win in the Premier League this season, with six of the seven wins they have picked up in the top-flight this term coming by a single goal margin. Given Burnley’s fine recent form, a similar outcome cannot be dismissed.

Ashley Barnes to score anytime @ 10/3

Danny Ings may be the one taking all the plaudits but it’s his strike partner Ashley Barnes who should be backed to get among the goals, having netted in three of the Clarets’ last four games, including last time out against Manchester City.

Ayoze to score and Newcastle to win @ 13/8

With Papiss Cisse facing a ban for violent conduct, the Senegalese star’s young apprentice, Ayoze Perez looks the pick of the Newcastle goalscorers, having netted last time out against Everton.

Four of his five goals for Newcastle have come in wins for the Toon and this looks the ideal bet.
