Javier Hernandez has been supported into joint favourite in the Premier League odds to be top goalscorer this season.
Hernandez netted 13 Premier League goals last season, despite appearing in only 27 of Manchester United’s 38 games and starting only 15 of these.
However, the Mexican striker seems to have moved above Dimitar Berbatov in the Old Trafford pecking order and is expected to start the majority of fixtures in the upcoming campaign alongside Wayne Rooney.
This could be the basis of the support for Hernandez and he has been backed into 8/1 from 10/1 to be the top scorer.
Hernandez is considered to be a deadly finisher and it is guaranteed that he will not be starved of decent chances at Manchester United, particularly with the creativity of wingers Nani, Luis Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young.
Rooney also opened at 10/1 in the top scorer betting market, but given the improvement in his form towards the end of last season in helping Manchester United to the Premier League title, a big season is expected of him.
This has resulted in Rooney being cut to 9/1 to be crowned Premier League top scorer, which is a feat he is still to achieve.
Another player an improved season is expected of is Fernando Torres, who only managed one goal for Chelsea in all competitions last season after signing from Liverpool.
But after a summer settling in London and the support of new manager Andre Villas-Boas, this is a campaign where Torres could justify his £50m price tag.
Torres is unchanged from his starting quote of 8/1 to be the Premier League top scorer, while Carlos Tevez remains unmoved at 9/1, despite his future at Manchester City being unclear.
Further down the market, Robin Van Persie may be good value at 12/1, as could Liverpool’s Andy Carroll at 16/1 if he can stay fit.
