Manchester United could be set for a sensational late swoop on Monaco ace Thomas Lemar.
The Daily Record claim that the Red Devils, having failed to sign Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, have turned their attentions to Lemar.
And our traders reckon it’s 5/1 to go ahead before the window closes in two weeks.
Boss Jose Mourinho has already signed Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic this summer, but is still seeking a bona-fide creative winger at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have done the job for the team in the last 12 months, but neither can be regarded as a fully-fledged winger.
Lemar was one of many Monaco players who grabbed headlines last season, as the French side reached the Champions League semi-finals and claimed their first Ligue 1 title in 17 years.
The French international played a big role in both achievements, creating 17 assists in all competitions, while chipping in with 14 goals for himself.
He began his career with Caen in Normandy, becoming a first-team regular in the 2014-15 campaign.
His performances quickly garnered attention, and Monaco moved at the end of that season, signing him up for just £3.6m.
And Lemar’s stock has continued to rise since moving to the French Riviera, with the player now set to cost any potential buyer some £60m.
Money isn’t an issue at Old Trafford, but it still won’t be easy for Mourinho to get his man.
Monaco will be wary of selling such a key player this late in the window, and the Ligue 1 champions have already lost Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko to the Premier League this summer.
The news will be a blow to Arsenal, who had been nearing a deal to sign Lemar in July, though that move now looks to have fizzled out.
