Between Emmanuel Adebayor, Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado, Tottenham’s bumbling strike force have made a combined 22 appearances in the Premier League and have contributed just three goals.
So it’s no surprise that Mauricio Pochettino is scouring the planet looking for a hot-shot striker to bring some joy back to the White Hart Lane forward line.
The man rumoured to be the Argentine’s latest target certainly has enough goals to do so, as Andrej Kramaric has a stunning 21 league strikes for HNK Rijeka, in just 14 outings.
At 23, the Croatian is certainly ticking the “one for the future” box as well as holding the heavy positive of current form on his side, and Spurs are looking to make him their new man in January.
Obviously, with such a red-hot record to his name, Kramaric isn’t just being courted by Spurs, as both Inter and AC Milan are also keen to snap up the striker at the earliest opportunity.
With his contract due to expire at the end of the season, there’s never been a better time for Tottenham – 9/1 shots for the top four this term after a fractious start to the season – to try and nab their guy.
Even if his deal is renewed, which Rijeka have option to do for another two years, the Zagreb native still has a buy-out clause thought to be less than £4m, making him an effective shot to nothing for a club of Spurs’ wealth.
It’s not just his price that makes Kramaric a safe gamble either, as the livewire has continental exposure in the Europa League – he has scored a hat-trick against Feyenoord this season – as well as four international caps (and two goals).
