Man Utd striker Federico Macheda poised for QPR move
Published:Manchester United striker Federico Macheda is almost certain to join Queens Park Rangers on loan in the January transfer window.
Despite bursting onto the scene thanks to his crucial last minute winner against Aston Villa in spring 2009, Macheda has failed to feature regularly for United and is well down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
However, Ferguson remains convinced of his talents and is not ready to let the 20 year-old leave permanently just yet – and a loan move to QPR would appear to be the perfect solution.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Macheda’s representative, Giovanni Bia, said: “I think at 95 per cent that Macheda will go to London, because he needs to play, and this is the only suggestion of a transfer to date.
“He’ll go on a simple loan for six months, because Sir Alex Ferguson believes in him and wants to take him back to United at the end of the season.”
The move would be a huge boost to QPR who have found goals hard to come by this season.
Neil Warnock’s men have the fourth worst attacking record in the league and have relied heavily on veteran striker Heidar Helguson to get the goals with Jay Bothroyd and Adel Taarabt failing to set the Premier League alight.
Another option up top is even more important in the coming months for QPR with Taarabt being named in the Morocco squad for the African Nations Cup.
QPR are currently 12/5 to be relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season but the arrival of Macheda – who did struggle on loan at Sampdoria last season – should help ease any worries.
