Man Utd, Arsenal & Chelsea To Be Busy On Deadline Day

Published:

It shan’t be long. Jim White has his yellow tie at the ready and Sky Sports have produced an advert in which they have somehow managed to make a fax machine a star. Deadline day is now associated with a media circus and half the time nothing actually happens.

However, this year there is very much a feeling that clubs need players, and not just any clubs, most of the big boys. Only Manchester City can really be happy with their lot at this stage. City neighbours United need at least two players and are sure to be busy, Jose Mourinho has promised incomings at Chelsea after their dire start and everyone knows Arsenal need a striker, whether they will get one is a different story.

Charlie Austin To Manchester United

The Charlie Austin saga is one that has rumbled on since the final whistle went on QPR’s Premier League campaign last season. The England striker was heavily linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle, with Chelsea even coming into the mix at one point.

Now it seems that his destination could be Old Trafford. After another turgid showing from Wayne Rooney in the lone forward role against Swansea, Louis van Gaal is keen to get himself a number nine, and with the former Bournemouth man available at £15m, the Dutch boss sees him as real value.

The 26-year-old has scored four goals in five matches so far for Rangers and he’s now as short as 1/2  to join the Red Devils in this window.

Edinson Cavani To Arsenal

Arsene Wenger’s men have scored just three goals so far in this campaign and it is clear that Olivier Giroud needs some help up top. Theo Walcott got the nod at Newcastle on Saturday but was largely ineffective as the Toon almost bravely held on for a point with 10 men.

Edinson Cavani has already got himself a pair of goals for PSG, leading the line in the absence of the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, the Swede is back and is sure to take back the central striking berth, forcing the Uruguayan out wide.

A desire to play as a centre forward could mean that the ex-Napoli player would be interested in a move to north London. It’s all down to whether Arsenal will fork out the cash and whether Wenger thinks he needs a new front man. He’s 7/2 to make the switch before the end of Tuesday.

Paul Pogba To Chelsea

The Blues midfield failings have been clear from day one of the season. Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic just aren’t holding their own in the middle of the park. Their lack of mobility and composure is in stark contrast to last year, when the two men dominated most teams in the division.

The manager has identified Paul Pogba as the answer and has allegedly already missed out on a move for the Juventus powerhouse. After defeat to Crystal Palace, the Pensioners are back in for the Frenchman, who is In to 2/1 to be plying his trade at Stamford Bridge at the end of this window.
