Premier League managers going back to their roots to sign players from their motherland is nothing new and Manchester United’s Louis van Gaal looks set to follow in this tradition.

The Red Devils gaffer has already signed Daley Blind since arriving at Old Trafford and looks set to go double Dutch either in January or the summer with swoops for a Heerenveen prospect and seasoned midfielder.

According to Heerenveen team-mate Marten de Roon, Daley Sinkgraven will be leaving in the summer to test himself at the highest level and it is believed United, along with Liverpool and Ajax, will be at the head of the queue.

“He can do anything with his left foot. Daley is a player, for whom people come to the stadium. I hope he stays during the winter, but in the summer he will surely move to a big club,” De Roon told Dutch newspaper Voetbal Primeur.

Sinkgraven, 19, made his break into the Heerenveen first team last season and has put in a string of impressive displays to alert some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The attacking midfielder is an exciting prospect but perhaps not exactly what United are craving in the short term. For that particular need, however, Van Gaal has another Dutchman in mind … Wesley Sneijder.

The Galatasaray player’s agent has hinted at a possible move after Sneijder was relegated to the bench for the recent 3-0 defeat to Trabzonspor.

This of course could just be some good old fashioned posturing for a new deal – with Turkey’s new tax laws set to impact Sneijder’s earnings – but with Chelsea also rumoured to be monitoring the situation a Premier League move could be on the cards.

With United, who go into this weekend’s game with Hull as 2/7 favourites, long-time admirers of the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan ace, Van Gaal would expect to be able to beat of competitions from west London.
