Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool men head deadline day loan list
Published:A regular feature of transfer deadline day is the ruthless cutting of a club’s fringe. Last minute loans have become commonplace as clubs allow their lesser-seen stars to temporarily seek regular playing opportunities elsewhere.
With that in mind, keep an eye out on these players making potential deadline day moves:
Nacer Chadli
News of Tottenham’s attempts to gazump Liverpool’s pursuit of Yevhen Konoplyanka shows that they are in the market for yet more wingers.
That’s bad news for Belgian Chadli, who has made just eight Premier League starts for the north London club and one in the last five games.
Nani
Wilfried Zaha has already copped a bullet from David Moyes in being shipped off to Cardiff on loan, leaving the Portuguese flyer next in the manager’s firing line.
A move abroad looks likely for Nani, who hasn’t registered a goal or assist in his eight top-flight appearances this season, in the hope that he can rediscover his form in time to make the World Cup.
Iago Aspas
Injury has severely hampered the former Celta Vigo man’s progress at Anfield and in his absence, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez have made goal scoring hay.
As a result Aspas is one of the most likely players to receive the loan treatment in order to work his way back up to match fitness.
Lukas Podolski
Another player to have suffered with injuries this season, Podolski’s lack of availability has forced Arsene Wenger to seek loan reinforcements of his own in the form of Mirko Vucinic.
With Julian Draxler thought to be an imminent arrival at the 5/1 title hopefuls, the Gunners can afford to let their number nine go on a fleeting basis, in order to reap the benefits back at the Emirates next season.
Papiss Cisse
First Demba Ba went off the boil at Newcastle – 22/1 for a top six finish – and now Cisse has joined his countryman in a Geordie slump.
With Luuk de Jong expected to arrive at St James’ Park before the window closes, it’ll be a shock to see Cisse left to sit on the bench behind the Dutchman, Loic Remy and Shola Ameobi.
