Man City’s John Stones 5/2 for shock summer move to Arsenal

Published:

John Stones could be set for a sensational move away from Manchester City this summer, according to our traders.

The England international has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad and we make it just 5/2 he reunites with former coach Mikel Arteta at Arsenal when the transfer window opens.

Defensive reinforcements appear to be a top priority if the Gunners want to return to the top four next season and Stones could fit the bill in north London.

The 26-year-old has slipped to fifth choice centre-back under Pep Guardiola, despite having won two Premier League titles following a £47.5 million move from Everton in 2016.

This season, Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi, Eric Garcia and Fernandinho are all ahead of the defender in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Arsenal have already been linked with a summer move for Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti earlier in the season, but the Man City star is the latest to be mooted for a transfer.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “If Arteta wants defensive reinforcements and familiar faces then he could kill two birds with one Stones later on this summer.”
