Manchester City will return to the top of the Premier League if they beat Cardiff City tonight.

Pep Guardiola’s men are in sensational form, winning their last 12 games in all competitions, and had no problem swatting the Bluebirds aside 5-0 in the reverse fixture.

Are the hosts heading back to the summit? Here’s everything you need to know…

Match Odds

This should be one-way traffic for City tonight. Our traders certainly think so, with the reigning champions 1/16 for victory.

That leaves Warnock’s visitors way out of contention at 33/1, with a draw also rather unlikely at 14s.

City are 27/10 on the -4 handicap, with another 5-0 win chalked up at 17/2.

Talking tactics

Guardiola is without Sergio Aguero tonight, so Gabriel Jesus is poised to deputise up front.

Raheem Sterling will look to cause mischief against the Cardiff defence, with Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane vying for the other forward role.

This could be an onslaught. City will dominate possession, leaving Cardiff to try and take advantage of what will likely be infrequent counter-attacks. The Bluebirds may have an aerial edge if they can win set-pieces.

Goalscorer odds

With Aguero out, Jesus heads up the first goalscorer betting at 13/5. The Brazilian is followed by Sterling at 14/5, with Sane and Mahrez each at 4/1.

Some 12 City players are priced shorter in the first goalscorer market than Cardiff’s most likely goal-getter. That honour falls to Bobby Reid at 20/1.

There’s 5/2 about Jesus netting two or more, while Mahrez is 5/1 to repeat his brace from that 5-0 win in the Welsh capital in September.

Richard loves his sport, especially if it involves the sound of tyres screaming around a race track. He's not fussy though and his '90s Premier League nostalgia and knowledge of team nicknames is tough to match.
