Latest odds suggest West Brom’s Deadline Day is just getting started

He may have been heavily fancied to sign for Crystal Palace this morning, but Mamadou Sakho is attracting interest from West Bromwich Albion, according to traders.

Sky Sports News are reporting that the Baggies are looking into the possibility of adding a centre-back and a defender to their roster before the transfer window slams shut.

And Liverpool’s reluctance to sell Sakho for anything less than £20m, combined with Crystal Palace’s stubbornness to meet that valuation and Pullis’ wish to add a quality defender to his ranks have led our traders to price Albion up as a 5/1 shot to land the former Paris Saint-Germain man.

Those odds hardly suggest a move is inevitable, but it’s worth putting two and two together as we head into the final stages of Deadline Day.

And given that the Black Country outfit weren’t even in the running earlier today, there could be a huge shock between now and close of play at the Hawthorns.

Sakho may also feel more confident joining a West Brom side currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League, as opposed to Crystal Palace who could find themselves in the Championship next season.

Albion have also been installed as new 5/4 favourites to land Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa, after talks between the Foxes and Sunderland broke down earlier this afternoon.

Should Pulis add this pair to his ranks, that’ll take West Brom’s total spend for the season to roughly £65m.
