The Premier League’s return continues tonight with two more blockbuster matches as Chelsea host Manchester City and Southampton take on Arsenal.

We asked our man Kevin Doyle for his take on both fixtures, and here’s what he had to say…

Chelsea v Man City, Thursday, 20:15

I had to have a good think about this match. Manchester City returned really well with dominant wins over Arsenal and Burnley. I predicted they would beat Burnley 4-0, just one goal short!

However, I also really like Chelsea hence this is a tricky one to call. I think Chelsea have been the most positive team during this pandemic.

To make that signing of Timo Werner and spend a massive amount of money when other teams are not sure what their transfer plans are is impressive.

They have landed a player who everyone seemed to be interested in. It’s a big statement from them and a big boost for the club.

I have a feeling Chelsea are going to finish the season strong and I like how they played the other day. I am going to go for a Chelsea win here.

Prediction: 1-0 Chelsea.

Southampton v Arsenal, Thursday 18:00

I think Mikel Arteta will just want to get through this season and not be a total joke between now and the end of the campaign. He will then try and head into next season with his own style and try and get some players in during the transfer window.

Next season will be massive for him. They have signed a couple of players back. I am surprised David Luiz has signed another year’s contract. As good a player he is, at times he stands out as a player who makes big, obvious mistakes.

I think it’s something Arsenal could have done without and they just don’t need that. People will jump on his back the moment he does anything wrong so that was a surprise signing.

I think Southampton will win this game. They played very well on their first game back and they have good players. My old teammate and friend Shane Long didn’t play last week but has signed a new contract with them and maybe he will get his chance tonight.

It would be nice to see him back in the team. The manager has signed a new contract as well. I think they are a club that have emerged from lockdown in a positive light and I see them winning this game 2-0.

Prediction: 2-0 Southampton.
