With each insipid display, Brendan Rodgers is looking more and more like a one-season wonder.
The Northern Irishman was forced to admit after the 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace that his position as Reds boss will be in danger if he can’t start to string results together.
Ladbrokes rate the former Swansea boss as the 6/1 third-favourite to be the next Premier League manager to go and, in true bandwagon style, their news team has drawn up three candidates to replace him should he get the boot:
Jurgen Klopp – 14/1 to be Liverpool’s next manager
The Borussia Dortmund boss is, like Rodgers, struggling to win league matches, but made the headlines on these shores recently when declaring that England, aside from his native Germany, would be the one country he would like to work in.
A mid-season switch looks unlikely though as the bespectacled cap-wearer bids to lift Der BvB out of the Bundesliga’s bottom three.
Frank de Boer – 14/1
Having missed out on the Spurs job last summer, the Ajax manager has compiled another impressive run of form back in his homeland, with the Amsterdam club sat second in the Eredivisie and just two points off PSV.
Another disciple of the attractive, possession-based style that Rodgers currently adopts, De Boer would be a linear appointment by Liverpool.
Jamie Carragher – 25/1
After the slump at Selhurst Park, the iconic Reds defender turned Sky Sports pundit pulled no punches in his critique of the performance he had just witnessed, even chastising his great mate Steven Gerrard for a lack of communication on the field.
If Liverpool want someone to inspire heart, passion and strong leadership into the Anfield squad after Rodgers then the below video should suffice as an ample application:
