Two of the Premier League’s biggest underachievers meets on New Year’s Day with Everton travelling to Hull and aiming to breathe fresh life into their ailing campaign.
The Toffees have lost three on the bounce heading into this fixture but remain the 5/4 favourites for victory with Ladbrokes while the Tigers, who suffered defeat to Leicester last time out at home, are the 12/5 outsiders.
Meanwhile those predicting a repeat of the draw these two played out earlier this season can get 9/4 on such an outcome, though with neither side proving particularly consistent of late, we’ve plumped for three alternative tips for you to enjoy.
Hull have struggled for goals at home of late and Everton could well take advantage with the Tigers failing to score in four of their last five at the KC Stadium, including each of their last three at the ground, while the Toffees also kept a clean sheet when the teams met in Yorkshire last term.
The Belgian may not have been in the best form but he should nevertheless be backed to get back to scoring ways against Hull. Lukaku scored when Everton met Hull earlier this term, netting for the second consecutive time against the Tigers and he looks a good pick to extend that run here.
The Toffees may be enduring a difficult run in the Premier League but when they win, they tend to win big with seven of their eight victories this term coming by a margin of two goals or more. Everton also beat Hull by two clear goals at the KC Stadium last term.
