Newcastle have only tasted the sweet nectar of victory once in their last 10 visits to Goodison Park, but their in-form winger Hatem Ben Arfa can draw on his debut winner three years ago to help grab a point for the Geordies.
Although Newcastle’s overall record is poor on Merseyside, they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw on a Monday night last season and just three seasons ago, French winger Ben Arfa struck in a 1-0 win.
The mercurial attacker has started this season well too, notching twice in his last three Premier League starts.
And despite an unexpected home hiccup against Hull, four wins in their last five in all competitions should give Alan Pardew’s side the belief they can get a point at Goodison – rated at 11/4 by Ladbrokes.
Ben Arfa is a 4/1 shot to find the Everton net again, while Papiss Cisse – fresh from notching a midweek Capital One Cup goal – will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his compatriot Demba Ba, who was responsible for both Newcastle goals in this fixture last season.
Cisse is sized up as a 3/1 shot to bag one, while strike partner Loic Remy is in line for a recall following a rest in the League Cup, and represents a 5/2 punt to add to his Premier League brace against the Tigers.
It’s far from an easy task for Newcastle to end an 11-match Premier League unbeaten run at Goodison Park for the home side though, especially with some of the shrewd acquisitions Roberto Martinez made late in the transfer window.
Romelu Lukaku is line to make his full debut and is 4/1 to score first, while Gareth Barry should become only the 10th ever player to make 500 Premier League appearances.
Fair play Bazza.
