Despite only trailing Premier League leaders Manchester City by two points, it’s been a pretty disappointing start to the season for Manchester United.
They have lost to rivals City 6-1 and been dumped out of both the Carling Cup and, much more importantly, the Champions League.
They continue to perform solidly in the league though and travel to west London to face a Fulham side who have won their previous two home league games…
United have a relatively poor record at Craven Cottage and are without a win in their previous three visits there.
Fulham won two of those three encounters and they are currently 9/2 to get another victory.
That may be beyond a team who have won just one of their seven encounters against teams above them in the table but they have already held Manchester City at home and defeated Liverpool a fortnight ago at Craven Cottage so backing them to bag a draw may prove to be a lucrative bet at 5/2.
However, backing United to win is undoubtedly the most sensible option and they are 4/6 to get their fifth straight league away win.
United have not shipped a single goal in any of their previous four away games and have won three of them 1-0.
Back United to win to nil at a very generous 2/1, while the more adventurous can back a 1-0 win for Fergie’s men at 6/1.
Finally, Wayne Rooney has found his goalscoring touch again and opened the scoring after less than a minute in their 1-0 win over QPR last week.
He’s currently 3/1 to open the scoring this Wednesday evening.
