Brendan Rodgers’ return to Swansea or the late Saturday kick-off between Everton and Chelsea would appear at first glance to be the biggest fixtures among the next round of Premier League games.
On the flip side, Fulham against West Brom looks a prime contender for a two-minute highlight slot at the end of Match of the Day, but in fact it may end up being the most pivotal result.
Alan Pardew and Paolo Di Canio are the two favourites in the next Premier League manager to leave market, but a defeat for either Martin Jol or Steve Clarke could see them rocketed to the head of the betting.
Both are currently 10/1, with West Brom propping up the Premier League standings having secured one point from their opening three games, while not having managed a single goal.
Fulham are just one position outside of the bottom three and did not have the most inspirational transfer window, bringing in a host of experienced faces seemingly with only the short term in mind.
Last season didn’t end too well for Fulham either, with one point gained in seven games, before victory over Swansea on the final day of the campaign.
Gus Poyet was heavily linked with the Fulham hotseat over the summer and given that he is still out of work, if the Cottagers’ fortunes don’t improve soon, he looks a ready-made replacement for Jol.
Clarke would seem to have a little more time based on the fact that he was allowed to break West Brom’s transfer record to bring Stephane Sessegnon to the Hawthorns on deadline day.
Scott Sinclair and Victor Anichebe are also in to bolster the club’s attacking options and Clarke should have bought himself a little more time on his efforts last season, when guiding West Brom to their highest ever Premier League finish.
History bodes better for Jol in this particular fixture though as Fulham are unbeaten in five against West Brom, which includes two wins over the Baggies last season. Fulham are 23/20 to beat West Brom again.
