Liverpool fans would rather see Jurgen Klopp replace Brendan Rodgers as manager than have Rafa Benitez back at Anfield.
That is according to the results of the latest Ladbrokes News poll, which asked readers to vote on who they would like to see replace the under-fire Northern Irishman.
Reds fans voted Klopp as their overwhelming first choice, with the German collecting 64 per cent of the vote.
That put the outgoing Borussia Dortmund manager some way ahead of Benitez, despite the Spaniard capturing a Champions League title and FA Cup during his time at Anfield.
Benitez still managed to draw 24 per cent of the vote, despite recent reports suggesting that the former Reds favourite may remain in Italy with Napoli.
Ajax manager Frank De Boer, meanwhile, managed just seven per cent despite guiding the Amsterdam giants to four consecutive Eredivisie titles during his time at the club.
That was still better than AS Roma manager Rudi Garcia, who claimed two per cent of the vote alongside Southampton manager Ronald Koeman.
Laurent Blanc’s old Manchester United allegiances, meanwhile, appeared to play a part in the Frenchman scoring just one per cent of the vote in the poll, though PSG’s recent capitulation at the hands of Barcelona in the Champions League is unlikely to have helped.
Klopp is the 9/2 favourite to replace Rodgers at Liverpool after a pivotal 24 hours in which Borussia Dortmund beat Bayern Munich to reach the final of the DFB Pokal.
At the same time, the Reds were limping to a 1-0 defeat to Hull at the KC Stadium that ended any lingering hopes they may have had of finishing in the top four this term.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Klopp is back on punters’ radars as a replacement for Rodgers following Dortmund’s advance to the cup final. The betting suggests the door is wide open for Benitez to return should the German snub Merseyside.”
