Everton topple LA Galaxy in race to reunite with Man United ace

Wayne Rooney could be on the verge of a stunning return to Everton, with odds tumbling on the Toffees swooping for the boyhood blue who left the club in 2004.

The experienced striker is struggling for gametime at Manchester United, having been left out of the starting XI in their last five Premier League games.

But Everton boss Ronald Koeman has made it clear he would be “very pleased” to have the chance to return the former Goodison Park prodigy to the club where it all began.

It’s now just 13/8 for Everton to be Rooney’s next club, while 5/2 says he heads there by the end of next summer’s transfer window. Meanwhile, 10s says the switch will happen in January 2017.

LA Galaxy had led the race for Roo, but it seems that Hollywood won’t be getting hold of another star studded-name, with the MLS outfit drifting out to 4/1 to sign the 31-year-old.

There’s still an outside chance of the Croxteth-born hitman heading to the Chinese Super League at 9/2, but don’t expect to see him at any Premier League club outside of the North-West, with Arsenal next best at a sizeable 16/1.

Next up for the Toffees is a trip to Chelsea, with the visitors 5/1 to record a third Premier League away win of the campaign.

Meanwhile, those who reckon we could see a repeat of last season’s 3-3 thriller at Stamford Bridge can back the same scoreline again at the humongous price of 50/1.
