Done Deal: Crystal Palace finally complete deal for Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho

Published:

It’s been one of the biggest transfer sagas of the month, but with 15 minutes remaining on the clock, Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool.

The move sees the centre-half move to Selhurst Park on loan, with Palace paying a £2m fee in addition to Sakho’s wages.

The 26-year-old was a regular for the Reds last season, but has failed to feature at all this season.

Palace boss Sam Allardyce has been desperate to bring in new faces this month, but has faced continued frustrations in the market.

Neverthless, the Eagles manager has now acquired Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester and Patrick van Aanholt from Sunderland for a combined fee of over £20m.

Olympiacos midfielder Luka Milivojevic has arrived for another £12.5m, while Allardyce is also in advanced talks with Everton’s Arouna Kone.

And with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth tonight, things are looking much brighter for the Eagles heading into February.

Allardyce will be hoping his new signings can power the club to another three points this weekend, when his former club Sunderland visit the capital.

And we make Palace 8/13 favourites to win this weekend’s six-pointer.
