Crystal Palace man even-money to join hometown club Huddersfield

It’s been less than 48 hours since Huddersfield Town secured promotion to the Premier League, but already boss David Wagner is closing in on a first signing of the transfer window – in the form of Fraizer Campbell.

The Huddersfield-born striker has 150 Premier League appearances under his belt, so could add real nous to a Terriers squad with minimal experience at this level.

Oh, and they wouldn’t have to splash out either – with the 29-year-old’s contract at Crystal Palace ending next month.

Right now it’s the West Yorkshire club who are firm favourites to sign the former Manchester United prodigy, with even money for him to head to the John Smith’s Stadium this summer.

And with their top-scorer last term – Elias Kachunga – managing just 10 league goals, it’s fair to say firepower should be the main focus for Wagner in this transfer window.

Sunderland are second in the betting, with the recently-relegated side 4/1 to re-sign Campbell, who spent four seasons on Wearside from 2009-2013.

Swansea City are third-favourites in the betting at 11/2, while it’s 7/1 for Newcastle United to add the England international to their ranks this summer..

However, our traders think a return to another former club – Hull City – is unlikely, pricing a summer move to the KCOM Stadium at 9/1, with Middlesbrough (10/1) rounding out the betting.
