Crystal Palace close in on late deal for Everton striker Arouna Kone

Published:

He may not have been high up on the wishlist, but Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce looks set to sign Arouna Kone in the final hours of Deadline Day.

The Everton striker has been told he can leave Goodison Park, with Sunderland one of a number of clubs linked with the 33-year-old.

But in the last few hours it’s Palace who have emerged as favourites, with Sky Sports claiming a deal has been agreed.

And our traders would seem to agree with that view, having refused to price up the move.

The Eagles are busy playing Bournemouth tonight, but that hasn’t stopped the club making headway behind the scenes.

Palace have already signed Jeffrey Schlupp and Patrick van Aanholt this month, and earlier this afternoon finalised a deal for midfielder Luka Milivojevic from Olympiakos for a reported £12.5m.

Allardyce may not have landed all of his January targets, but the former Bolton boss must be reasonably happy with his four-man haul.
