He may enjoy cult hero status at Newcastle United right now, but Aleksandar Mitrovic could soon cut his ties with the Magpies, with our traders offering just 6/4 for the Serbian striker to leave St James’ Park this summer.
While he’s a terrace favourite on Tyneside, the former Anderlecht forward hasn’t really set the world alight in the Championship, netting just four times in 14 games.
And having featured in just two of the Magpies’ last six league outings, there’s a suggestion Rafa Benitez is willing to listen to offers for the 22-year-old.
Despite his modest strike-rate this season, there’s no shortage of interest in the Smederevo native, who showed he can be truly prolific by chalking up 44 goals in 90 appearances for Anderlecht.
One man interested in securing his services is Sam Allardyce, with Crystal Palace narrow favourites to sign Mitrovic at 4/1. And the Eagles certainly need some attacking impetus, a fact reflected by their having failed to score in four of the last five outings.
Another club fighting to beat the drop – Swansea City – are next up at 9/2. But with Paul Clement’s side enjoying a recent resurgence, they could quickly switch places with Palace in the betting, if it looks like the Swans are staying up while the Eagles are on course for relegation.
Napoli are the most likely option if he heads abroad, with 5/1 for the combustible striker to join Gli Azzurri and 7/1 on offer for a move to Everton, with the Toffees likely to need a new addition up front this summer as an exit for Romelu Lukaku looks increasingly likely.
However, our number-crunchers have all but ruled out a return to Anderlecht, with 12/1 for the striker to head back to Brussels.
