Crouch leaves training early with Sunderland 1/1 to sign him

Peter Crouch arrived at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground this morning but didn’t stay long as a move to Sunderland looks likely to happen.

Crouch is 1/1 to be a Sunderland player by the end of the summer transfer window and while Stoke were also interested, the odds on Crouch joining Stoke have drifted out to 10/1.

A helicopter was seen flying over Spurs’ Chigwell training ground shortly after Crouch left by car, and it is believed the striker was heading north to iron out terms with Sunderland.

Ladbrokes are offering 9/4 that Crouch remains a Tottenham player but considering he was told that he could leave training this morning, it’s difficult to see the England forward remaining in north London.

A move to west London may be on the cards with QPR 11/4 to sign Crouch, but a helicopter wouldn’t be needed to fly Crouch across London and canny punters should be quick to snap up the 1/1 for Crouch to join Sunderland.

Steve Bruce has worked hard to bring in new players in this transfer window but having lost Darren Bent last January, and Danny Welbeck at the end of last season, Bruce is short of goalscorers.

Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-Won have been brought in but both are young and will take time to adjust to the demands of the Premier League.

Crouch is well adapted to the Premier League and while he had a poor season last season, Crouch has managed 61 goals in the Premier League.

Sunderland have scored just once in three Premier League games this season and Bruce is very reliant on Asamoah Gyan leading the line.

Crouch would add an extra dimension to Sunderland’s attacking play and should Crouch join the likes of John O’Shea and Wes Brown at the Stadium Of Light, the Mackems could boast a strong squad capable of challenging for Europe.
