Brighton v Southampton Betting Tips: All square on the South Coast?

All eyes will be on the South Coast tonight as Brighton host Southampton in what looks set to be a pre-Christmas cracker on Monday Night Football.

Both sides have been playing consistently well so far this season, although it’s only the eighth-placed Saints who have the points to show for it. Another victory for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side this evening would lift them up to 5th in the table, while success for Brighton would move them above Arsenal into 15th.

So, who’ll take the spoils when the pair meet at the Amex Stadium at 20:00? We’ve previewed tonight’s clash in our Premier League Betting Tips.

Match Odds

This has been about as one-sided-a-rivalry as you can get in recent times. Southampton haven’t lost against Brighton since their South Coast rivals made it up to the Premier League in 2017.

The Saints have also been going great guns this season, winning five of their last eight matches with last week’s loss to Man United their first defeat since the second week of the season.

Our traders have them down at 7/4 to continue their good form, with a Brighton side who have only won twice this season available at a slightly shorter 31/20.

The Seagulls have specialised in draws so far this term, though, and after producing a stalemate in four of their last six matches, we go 23/10 about it ending level pegging again here.

Three of those four impasses have finished 1-1, which is available at 11/2 this evening, while there’s 7/10 about Both Teams to Score between two sides who possess plenty of firepower.

Talking Tactics

Graham Potter has been handed a boost with the return of marauding full-back Tariq Lamptey, who’ll provide an outlet down the right-hand side of the pitch.

He’ll look to feed in Danny Welbeck and Aaron Connolly, both of whom are likely to start the match with regular frontman Neal Maupay facing a late fitness test.

On the opposite side of the pitch, Danny Ings also remains a doubt as he continues to recover from a knee injury picked up against Aston Villa last month.

Che Adams and Theo Walcott are expected to start up-front in his continued absence, while Nathan Redmond is also likely to miss out.

James Ward-Prowse has been pivotal in midfield in recent weeks for the Saints. He’ll start alongside Oriol Romeu in what will effectively be a 4-4-2 formation.

Goalscorer Odds

Maupay and Ings may be doubts for the match, but they’re still the two most likely players to find the back of the net according to our traders at 15/8 and 13/10 apiece.

Adams has scored three goals in his last six matches and is next best at 10/3, while free-kick specialist Ward-Prowse has four in five and is 7/2 to add to his seasonal tally.

Solly March is Brighton’s second-top scorer in the league after Maupay and is a 13/2 chance make the nut bulge, with livewire and likely starter Connolly much shorter at 9/4.

Ex-Arsenal man Welbeck opened his Seagulls account against Aston Villa last month and is 21/10 to double his tally this evening.
