Reports that a second club have joined Real Madrid in the chase of Gareth Bale has led to the finger being squarely pointed at Manchester United and the Red Devils are now just 5/1 to have signed the Welshman before the closing of the transfer window.
This has led to numerous theories into what the actual details of a Red Devils offer would be, whether it would involve Wayne Rooney, Nani or anyone else from the Man Utd squad.
Although they have already signed Roberto Soldado, Tottenham still look a striker light and Rooney’s creativity could also come in handy as Tottenham’s only league goals so far this season have come from the penalty spot.
Some speculation indicates that somewhere in the region of £60m and Rooney would be the offer put forward for Bale.
The obvious problem is that Spurs can’t offer Champions League football and with Rooney sure to be aware of Chelsea’s interest, a switch to Stamford Bridge would surely be his chosen one, indeed if Man Utd have decided that they are prepared to sell.
Having been as short as 1/40 to complete the capture of Bale in recent days, Real Madrid have drifted back to 1/12 to sign Bale. However, this move still looks by far the most likely.
What is interesting is that the price that Bale remains at Tottenham after the summer transfer window is just 5/1, which pretty much guarantees that he will depart for somewhere.
Chelsea have already shown with Willian that is not beyond their remit to leave their transfer dealings late and if Man Utd are not the team to have made a bid for Bale, then it could be Jose Mourinho.
It is 66/1 that Bale joins Chelsea in the transfer window, with 40/1 the price that he signs for Barcelona and 50/1 he remains in the Premier League with Manchester City.
